A core focus of cities and governments in the context of UAM is to ensure that the benefits of air mobility are accessible to all segments of the population. This involves addressing potential disparities in access to these new modes of transportation and ensuring that UAM services contribute to rather than exacerbate urban inequalities. Governments play a key role in developing policies that prioritize equitable access and integrate UAM solutions into broader public transportation strategies.

Urban air mobility presents a unique opportunity to advance cities’ sustainability goals, offering cleaner, more efficient modes of transportation. Governments and city authorities are instrumental in aligning UAM initiatives with environmental objectives, from reducing urban congestion and lowering emissions to promoting the use of green technologies. Their commitment to sustainability is crucial for securing the social license to operate and ensuring that UAM contributes positively to urban ecosystems.

The April 15 student-centric event will explore cutting-edge innovations in the future of air transportation.

Advanced air mobility (AAM) is a groundbreaking form of air transportation. It uses remotely piloted, autonomous or vertical take-off and landing aircraft to transport people and goods in remote and often emergency situations. And it holds the potential to reshape society’s movement and connectivity within and beyond cities.

In light of its importance, the Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation (CIADI), in cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), is hosting the university’s first symposium on AAM on April 15.

“This is a way to not only make students aware of advanced air mobility, why it’s important and what it’s all about, but also to make them passionate about it,” says Carole El Ayoubi, CIADI’s director of education…

In announcing the partnership, FlyOnE’s Korum Ellis said the collaboration was expected to result in a sustainable aviation industry in Australia.

“We are thrilled to align with the Advanced Air Mobility CRC to advance the development of electric air transport in Australia,” he said.

“This collaboration will not only benefit the aviation industry, lower air transport costs and raise customer experience for the average Australian, but also contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for our country.”

The Gold-level partnership requires a $200,000 per-year contribution to AAM CRC, but gets FlyOnE membership in the company.

FlyOnE will join other industry partners such as Dovetail Electric Aviation, Quickstep and Thales.

AAMCRC is a Melbourne-based organisation that brings together developers and researchers of all aspects of AAM, from the aircraft to vertiports, airports, airlines, regulators and any other AAM stakeholders.

Research partners include Swinburne, RMIT, QUT, University of Sydney, Charles Darwin University, Western Sydney University and Wichita State University’s National Institute of Aviation Research…

The future of air mobility will be unveiled at Airspace World 2024, in Geneva from 19 to 21 March when the Urban Air Mobility-UAM- Initiative Cities Community, known as UIC2, and CANSO partner to introduce the Pathway to Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) thematic track. This collaborative initiative promises a diverse array of discussions, dialogue, and insights, all aligned with the overarching theme of Pathway to Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) – Shaping the Air Mobility of the Future.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is on the brink of revolutionising aviation, ushering in a highly automated and collaborative environment. This transformation will be powered by cutting-edge technologies such as automated traffic management, digital ecosystems, sustainable solutions, new aircraft designs, advanced communications, and evolving infrastructure. AAM services will encompass passenger transport, cargo delivery, and a multitude of aerial services, benefitting communities in urban, regional, and international contexts.

AAM holds the potential to enhance intermodal transportation, promote sustainability, and elevate the quality of life, safety, and security for citizens. The Pathway to Advanced Air Mobility provides a clear roadmap for harnessing this potential, breaking down the journey into incremental steps…
